It takes a great deal of money to build a home.
Although we get many in-kind donations from local
and national businesses and excellent volunteer
support, it still takes a great amount of money for
us to provide a decent affordable home for someone
in our area. For our build in Troy, NH, this past
Summer, we received major donations locally from
Markem-Image and The Bean Foundation, and
nationally from the Timken Foundation of
Canton, Ohio. These gifts pushed us over our fund
raising goal and we were able to build a home on Lot
1B on Dort Street in Troy, adjacent to the home we
built two years ago. Now we are looking forward to
our next build.
This past year, Clark Mortenson Insurance and
Financial Services in Keene adopted Monadnock
Habitat for Humanity as their “Charity of Choice”.
Throughout the year they raised over $ 1,500.00 for
our affiliate! This included several fund raisers
including a “Like Us” campaign on Facebook,
donations for a “Jeans Day” at work and a generous
donation of a 70/30 split of a raffle held at their
Winter Party. But they didn’t just donate money!
They donated an Energy Star gas dryer for the home,
fully staffed two days of hard work at the site from
their employees and their team that participated in
our annual Hike Monadnock climb raised nearly $
500.00. This kind of full throttle support from one
of our local businesses was most gratifying. We
encourage other businesses in our area to consider a
similar campaign and to join us in our next build.
We also appreciate donations of any amount from
members of the community. If you would like to help
us raise funds to build another home click on this
